The north coast showcase's its offering to the african content and the world at the africa's travel indaba(ATI) 2023
The province of KwaZulu Natal hosted the 2023 edition of Africa’s Travel Indaba (ATI) which was held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (ICC) from 9-12 May 2023. The 3-day iconic African leisure trade show, kicked off on Monday 08 May with the Business Opportunity Networking Day (BONDay)session, which Enterprise iLembe was also a proud partner of. The session provided a platform for industry stakeholders to connect, share knowledge on the latest global trends, attend compelling panel discussions around growth development of the tourism sector and the support that Government will provide in developing of small, media and Micro enterprises (SMME’s).
This year’s edition of ATI was themed “Unlimited Africa” which speaks directly to the continents uncapped potential. Meaning that the African continent is open, especially after Covid-19, for the world to come and discover, connect and grow. The show started smoothly, with more than 6,000 delegates from 21 African countries including 1,000 international buyers and 1,000 exhibitors showcasing 350 tourism products to regional and international buyers.
Enterprise ilembe together with KwaDukuza Municipality and iLembe tourism product owners exhibited at ATI to showcase the myriad tourism offerings that the North Coast region has to offer in terms of accommodation, activities and attractions. The iconic ATI is always a highlight in our calendar as an Entity said Enterprise iLembe CEO, Mr Linda Mncube, it is an essential platform to forge new partnerships, engage with industry colleagues on the latest trends and discussion points but more importantly to showcase the destination’s unique offerings to international and local buyers. Mncube said that trade shows such as Africa Travel Indaba are a catalyst to boost tourism contributions to the economy.
Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille in her opening address emphasised the importance of “Collaboration and innovation to drive growth in the sector”. ‘Whilst competition is needed in tourism and destination marketing, greater results are achieved through joining forces and redefining the travel experience in our country through working together’, said de Lille.
Manager of Sea-Rendipity Guesthouse in Salt Rock Ballito Ms. Chanté Coetzer said “it’s always a great pleasure to attend Africa’s Travel Indaba through the support we receive from Enterprise iLembe, it provides an opportunity to promote and expand our reach as a business and find new clients”. She mentioned that the show provides a worthwhile experience and looks forward to next year’s Africa’s Travel Indaba.
